Two English Poems

If I am dead inside let me at least so carefully
preserve every little living thing- it's spring
and there are birds and flowering trees and
oh surprisingly
there are kites and children and the sunshine
still warm on my back--oh let me be
careful

Birdwatching

Because they flutter
like my heart
